We have some great hockey tickets tonight, but Pal was feeling (& sounding) pretty sick last night so I'm waiting for him to wake up before I get too excited.   Good morning! It's another cold day here. Ruby says hi while she snoozes beside me. :) I made coffee & am currently drinking it all bundled up on the sofa. Cozy mornings help make running errands later not so bad. No tweets today because I ditched it for bluesky but am in a transition stage. That said, if anyone wants to vent about dismantling public ed in favor of vouchers for private, religious schools, just let me know, lol.  That's it from me. How's your week looking at the halfway point?

 I'm having an eye exam today, and they'll be taking my glasses to put in the new prescription, so I'll be navigating without them for about a week. Should be fun.

 It's Monday again!  There's no denying that winter is upon us here.  It's chilly!   I am on a quest for red framed glasses.  I got a cheap pair of dollar store readers and I LOVE the red. I want them in my life all the time.    So yesterday I was at Warby Parker doing try ons.  I couldn't find a decent red but I did find another  pair that looked ok.  I almost got them until I remembered the advice I my SIL once gave a nibling- "If you don't love it in the store, you won't like it at home."  That bit of wisdom has saved me from many pointless purchases.   So today I'm wondering what sayings or wisdom do you fall back on or pass on to others?   And of course, tell us about your weekend and what's up for today!

 Happy Thanksgiving-eve to our US folks and Happy Wednesday to all. Today it is gross here-  rain, snow, wind.  Blech.   I've got a little bit of everything on my list.  How are you spending the day?  

  Just to make everyone feel inadequate; a friend of mine just turned 90 about a week ago, and in September, she went on a hiking tour of Prince Edward island, which is about 140 miles long.

 Well Happy Monday gang.  The countdown to Thanksgiving is upon us.  How are you fixed for things?   And how's your week looking otherwise? My U.S. kitchen is sparse so I've ordered a pie.  I picked up a turkey breast and some veg.  We'll be going to dad's and cooking together.   Other than that, I have no idea what the week will bring.  But I am hopeful. 

  Good morning, GT! Happy Sunday. I slept something like 11 hours last night and I didn’t realize how much I needed that. I had not been sleeping well for the last few weeks and I didn’t realize how TIRED I really was. I hope anyone else who has been having trouble sleeping is able to get some good rest soon. On another note, I ended up cancelling my lunch plans since my tummy is still a bit uneasy. I don’t want to risk any tummy trouble while out and about.  Anyway, enough about me. How is everyone doing? Are y'all looking forward to the short week as much as I am?  

  Good evening, groupthink! I hope Saturday is going well. Our afternoon was interrupted by someone who needs Pal's help buying a car. My husband is very nice & sometimes it can be annoying! On the plus side, he's bringing home sushi for our movie night. We're watching The Killer on Netflix & then something for noirvember, tbd.  The Sphere in Vegas is fascinating, and this is hilarious. I hope they have a quiet spot for all the people who overdo it. 😂 What are you up to tonight?

It may be blogspot, rather than disqus this time, since comments do seem to show up in notifications. ETA; Balk Talk mod k2b reports that it's actually a disqus issue, and they are aware of it. 2nd ETA; Disqus says that if you keep the page open and don't refresh, new comments will appear. I've also found that replies to me are showing up in notifications if I click the notifications button

Good morning! It's almost Friday & my day is pretty light. A wonderful combo. ;) I'm hoping to make it to the grocery early to make a dent in Thanksgiving supplies. Pal's family is celebrating the Saturday after so I'll have to leave some of it until next week. Not much else to report except we keep having 3 seasons a day & it's getting old!   Good morning, beautiful souls--welcome to Wed. I hope it treats you well.  Thank you all for the birthday wishes yesterday 💜💜💜 I've decided to call in sick today as a gift to myself. Yesterday was A LOT--good but so, so busy, and I've worn myself down. I have lots to do in preparation for the last couple of days this week and haven't slept well lately. Today, I woke up at 3:30 and thought, If I call in, I can take a nap, do all that grading but in a leisurely manner, and even get a walk in on what will assuredly be one of the last nice days of the year . So, I'm staying home today. How about you ? How's your day looking?

  I have an eye exam today, and will likely be without glasses for the next week, while the new prescription is fitted into my old frames. I like the old frames because most other frames seem to distort my vision, even if they have the right prescription.

 Good morning and a Happy Monday.  It's another post and run situation for me today.  I'm getting the upper half of my GI system checked out today and then I'm hoping to swing by the hospital to check on mom. Things weren't going great and I've been spending a LOT of time there, including overnight on Friday.  Hard plastic chairs are not good for the butt or back.  Things seem to be settling down and we're hoping that a rehabilitation hospital will accept her.  She needs some strength and balance work if she's going to succeed at home. My thanks to everyone for their kind words and good wishes.  I'm sorry that I did not have the time to respond but scrolling through them at the hospital was a comfort.  I guess it's also time to start thinking about holiday shopping and maybe decorating?  All of my Christmas stuff is in the Shire but a home without any decorations seems sad.  Anyone start thinking about holiday shopping or decorating yet?...

Good morning, everybody. Happy Sunday!  How is everyone doing today? Can y'all believe it’s already the middle of November? And Thanksgiving is less than 2 weeks away!?! I’m so not prepared. I haven’t even thought about what I’m cooking or made a plan for shopping. Yikes. I need to get on it. On another note, my sleep schedule is all out of whack and I really need to fix it. I went to bed at 7:30pm last night and I’ve been up since 2:30am. I feel fine, but being up this early does not work since I can’t really do anything since nothing is open and nobody else is awake. I ended up catching up on work stuff since there was nothing else to do. I’m going to try and force myself to stay up later tonight to try to readjust.  Anyway, I won’t be around much today since I’ll be going with my aunt to finalize funeral arrangements. I hope y’all are doing well and you are enjoying some relaxation, socializing or whatever it is that recharges your batteries and brings you joy. 

  Happiest of Saturday evenings to everyone! I'm making this post a little early in anticipation of a late afternoon nap, lol. Let's talk cookies! Not necessarily holiday ones; there's a cookie for every season. My favorite is a warm & chewy chocolate chip, no nuts. I do like them, but growing up, most every single dessert had walnuts in it, even the freaking ice cream. Now, I'm pretty sure my mom pretended to like black walnut bc no one else would touch it, lol. Anywho, peanut butter, "compost," & anything with browned butter are my runner ups. Ooh also, there's a tiny shop here with apple cookies in homage to McDonald's pies & they are drool worthy! Any cookies you can't stand? It's these way too sweet lofthouse ones for me. Frosting on any cookie is usually a miss imo. How about you? Any favorites? Or whatever is on your mind. :)

 I'm stuck in after my colonoscopy (no applause please) and thinking about winter skincare.   It's been on my mind with the changing weather.  My face will inevitably hate me for some reason in the coming months.   Good news, bad news; things are moving forward with the orange dog, and we've arranged a meet and greet on Saturday, although they had some questions about things like; she has some separation anxiety, and how will I deal with that, and how will I introduce her and Biscuit? And not great news about my tooth issue; apparently there is significant bone loss around the root, and there is the risk of losing the tooth. My dentist is booking a consultation with a periodontist to see what, if anything (most likely some painful surgery) can be done to stop this from progressing. I don't know if it can be reversed. It might be caused by grinding, a vitamin D deficiency, osteoporosis, or ironically, my osteoporosis mediction.

  Good morning, GT! Happy Sunday.  People are always talking about how nice it is to gain an extra hour of sleep when we change the clocks in the fall, but that never happens for me. My body still wakes me up at the usual time but instead of it being 6am, it's 5am. Womp womp.  Anyway, since I'm up early I figured I should get a jump start on my day. I need to do laundry, unload the dishwasher, and take a trip to the market. Afterwards I may go see Priscilla or The Persian Version. We'll see.  How are y'all doing today? I went out yesterday to get my low residue groceries and some clearance candy.  Finn is very happy that there were also Halloween squeaky toys on clearance.  He's so frickin cute.
