  Sadly, the latest dog that I had my eye on is being adopted, and not by me. He was from the same rescue that I got Kia from, and they really steered me straight with her, so I'm keeping a close eye on their dogs. They did email me (after I sent a general inquiry about him) that there will be more dogs arriving soon.

 A peek into my thoughts-- Hmm what to talk about.  Blog.  Blog is a funny word.  A blog is words. I like words. I love the ones that almost taste good coming out of my mouth.  But I hate it when words are used incorrectly- out of context, mispronounced, misused or sometimes entirely made up.   Oof. Remember that time that we realized I was spelling aspirin incorrectly for years, even in medical records? So yeah, that's my flight of thoughts at the moment. What are your pet peeve words that are misused, misspelled or just plain irritating?  You know, the ones you judge people for.   Do you have a favorite word?   And are there any embarrassing  aspirin like  faux-pas you'd be willing to share?   And as always, what's going on today?  Happy Monday!

Happy Sunday.  I'm drafting this post ahead of time because I'm hoping my plans to get a good night's sleep have panned out and that I'm currently headed to the beach to enjoy a donut and iced coffee while listening to the waves. Finger's crossed that is actually what I'm doing.  Anywho, how is everyone doing this morning? Any fun plans to close out this weekend before Halloween? I didn't get around to carving my pumpkin last night so I'm going to do that as soon as I get home. I'll probably throw on some scary-ish movies as well and light a festive candle to set the mood.  How are y'all?

  Happy Saturday night, friends. I hope your days have been splendid! I've been a little grumpy about going to a party today, then realized I'm a grown ass adult who can do what I want. And that is staying in tonight! So, my new plan is getting cozy, making popcorn, & binging movies. I feel a little guilty about sending Pal alone, but his work parties are plentiful & I'll see them for Friendsgiving in a couple of weeks.   Morning, GT--welcome to the last weekend before Halloween! (Halloween Eve-Eve-Eve?) What's on your vagenda this weekend?  My parents invited us to breakfast... across town... at IHOP this morning. I countered with an offer of pain au chocolat and pour over at my house. So, we're hosting breakfast this morning. :) After that, there might be a run to TJ's. Tonight, I'm thinking of making enchiladas and we'll prolly (read: definitely) watch a horror movie. Tomorrow, there's a chance of snow!!😱 So my plan is to stay inside and be all hygge-cozy all day.  How about you?

 How on earth can it be Friday already?  I am wishing you a happy one. I'm off to stay with mom while dad goes to an appointment. So once again, fuck early appointments! Also, a big fuck it to toxic positivity and the people who encourage it.  I cannot even engage in that nonsense.   And last but certainly not least fuck those republican ghouls wherever they may be.  I am so sick of their bullshit.   What's going on in your fuck-it world?

  Rise and shine GTers! Good morning from this slightly horrifying gif. Monty went to the vet yesterday, and he's down to just over 4.5 lbs, but he's still got a great appetite, so he's not ready to check out quite yet. He got an arthritis shot, and I'm going to try him on sub-q fluids to see if that helps his dehydration. I finally got the forms filled out to apply for my government pensions; this was held up because of a snafu with the information on my birth certificate, which still isn't cleared up, but I'm doing a work-around. So they'll get delivered to the appropriated government office today or tomorrow.

 Hello and Happy Monday! Today I'll be making piles of dog food and freezing up some meals I cooked this weekend.  I'll also be torturing myself by trying on outfits for a family casino trip tomorrow.   I just signed up for Stitchfix and I am hoping to get at least a couple of things that make me feel well dressed.   Anyhoo-- what's going on in your world?

  Good morning, GT! Happy Sunday!  Today should start the first day of below 80 degree temps and I’m thrilled. We should be in the mid-70s for at least the next week and that makes me very happy. I can’t tell y'all how sick I was of the heat.  Anyway, today I’ll be going to breakfast with my mom and grandma, and afterwards I we'll probably stop by the cemetery to take my grandpa some flowers. In anticipation of my grandma's sweet tooth kicking in, I'm also planning to stop and get us some ice cream. Yum! I also want to pick up a pumpkin to carve. I've been totally jealous of all of y'all who are enjoying some proper fall activities.  Ok, enough about me. How is everyone doing today? Any fun plans for the day? P.S. Cosmo got his Halloween costume yesterday and I can't wait for FFF to show y'all.

  Morning, GT--welcome to Sat. 🧡. What are y'all up to?  I'm leaning into the fall of it all today by going for a long, solo hike first thing. Tonight, Homey and I will be having dinner at a local, fancy-pants restaurant that's, sadly, closing next weekend. We are going to eat, drink, and be merry. The restaurant is right around the corner from a great spot for watching our city's Halloween parade, so the plan is to walk over to watch that with my bro, SIL, and the baby nibs. Should be a good day! How about you?

  I don't see an open thread scheduled for today, so here ya go! I'm on the hunt for a new optometrist (again); the one I went to last time, 2 years ago, is not taking appointments until the 3rd week of December! And I have until the end of December to get a new prescription, get the glasses and submit the claim, because my benefits will be drastically reduced at that point. Although I haven't been doing anything in my nature journal lately, I had talked about it with my next door neighbour, who is a high school teacher, and she and 2 other teachers have taken it up as a project with their students, who love it! She says they come into class, head straight for their journals (I guess they leave them at school) and start working in them; she says she's never seen anything like this level of engagement before. I ran into a group of them last week outside the school drawing away; they weren't just sitting around chatting; they were working in them.

 Good morning! We made it halfway to the weekend. Huzzah! It's finally sunny again here & very cold out there. It was a bit of a shock to the system, lol. A happy one, though. My plan today is a little cleaning before I head out & then more errands. Boring, but not so bad.  How about you? 

  I should do some banking today and return some (possibly overdue) books, other than that, I don't have much in the way of plans; maybe a deep dive in to the laundry pile for things like a duvet cover that I've been putting off washing. It's supposed to be sunny for the next couple of days, so I can hang it outside on a drying rack.

I packed a suitcase for my visit here but the well is running dry.  My sister set me up with a great Stitch Fix top for my concert tonight.   Hello, lovely GTer's. Happy Sunday! I'm up very early this morning but I don't mind it too much since I do want to take an early morning drive to the beach. I haven't been in a couple weeks and I can't wait to dip my toes in the water. Plus, I've been allergy free for 2 days so I'm finally feeling normal again. Yay! How is everyone doing today? No complaints from me. :) Pal's just about finished recording with his band so we can settle in for a relaxing evening watching Mike Flanagan's latest show, The Fall of the House of Usher. It will be hard to top Midnight Mass imo, but it looks great. It will cold enough for a fire soon if I keep the windows cracked, lol. That may sound silly, but I am very into my Halloween themed vacation week. 😂   How's your night going?

One of my students is running a panel on supporting children of color with their mental health, so we'll go check that out. I'm thinking I might make some veggies and cranberry beans for supper.  Tomorrow, we finally get to go to the punkin' patch! Hopefully, that means pumpkin carving tomorrow night.  I cannot believe that it is Friday again already.  And it's a Friday the 13th today!  Yesterday was a clusterfuck.  A half hour errand turned into a 3 hour outing that included surprise labs, a major road closure and getting stuck behind a school bus that stopped every 10 feet for a mile.  So yeah,  fuck all of that. Also in no particular order: -War ('nuff said) -Pollen  -And a special fuck it to our returning champs, the republicans.  I am enjoying watching those chucklefucks in the House burst into flames though.   How about you?  Let's hear those fuck-its.

  Good morning! Apologies for the late post; I definitely thought it was Tuesday when I woke. Pal's day off has thrown me once again, lol. It looks like our rain is arriving early, too. Good thing I made a huge pot of soup last night & don't have much to do today besides picking up groceries soon with ingredients for another soup later this week.  It made me realize we haven't had a food post in ages so what are you thinking about cooking &/or eating? Canadian Thanksgiving is soon, too. Here's a photo of last night's kale, potato, & sausage soup. It was delicious. How about you? And how's your day looking?

  It's definitely autumn here, with a blustery week ahead with seasonal temps. I may hear today if I'm approved to adopt the dog; they'll be checking with my vet today, I think. They want this dog adopted quickly. The foster parents were saying that they've had her for 5-6 weeks, and the danger is that the dog will bond too closely with them, and also that they will get too attached. I think I have to give her a trial to see how she is with the cats; real aggression will be a deal-breaker. I only saw her at the dog park, and she sounds like she behaves quite differently at home, and out for leashed walks

Long ago and not so very far away, teen Phoebe was invited to a Halloween dance.  I had just transferred from my sheltered private school to a public school.  I was super excited, and a little nervous about attending with my cool new friend.   My life had been pretty sheltered prior to high school. I had heard about the annual dance from friends in the neighborhood whose older siblings had attended years before.  Their costumes sounded so creative and fun- a bag of jelly beans, a rain cloud, a baby with a giant pacifier.  My costume wouldn't be as cool.  Between my closet and my mom's, I pulled together a cow girl outfit that I thought was pretty good though- a vest, a prairie skirt and boots.  I got a toy sheriff's star at K Mart and borrowed a cowboy hat to finish my look.    Cool friend was going as a Playboy bunny.  She had to leave the house wearing jeans over her fishnets & body suit with her makeup & bunny ears h...

Good morning, y'all! I'm sitting on the front porch watching some much needed clouds roll in here. We need the rain for the fall colors! Plus, it's the home stretch for my well deserved alone time. Pal has a show tonight, but it’s just a 30 minute opener & he deemed it too short for the trouble, lol. Today's only mission is meeting my uncle for his birthday lunch & delivering his cake & then I'm finished! Btw, Pal's band is opening for a Texas jazz musician.   Good morning, lovely GT. Happy first day of October! October is one of my favorite months because it gives me an excuse to watch all the Halloween-ish movies. Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow, Practical Magic, etc. I'm very much looking forward to re-visitng these old favorites. While I'm looking forward to what October brings, I can't believe it's already here. Where has the year gone? My brain likes to think we are still in the middle of the year when in reality it will be over in less than 3 months. Yikes!
