 Happy Monday!  Mr is off biking in the mountains so I am solo all day!  I'll be doing some errands and then enjoying the quiet.   We went to the church's 150th anniversary celebration this weekend.  I did not stay for mass but wandering the cemetery was neat.  The first headstones are in English and Gaelic.  There's a lot of irony in that graveyard and at that church. I've been thinking a lot about the ancestors, good & bad and the evils done to those families and the indigenous people by the church.  The sins of the father and such... Anyway, how's your Monday and week looking?  

  Good morning, GT How is everybody doing today?  I overindulged yesterday and I’m feeling a bit blah this morning. Too much yummy food and drinks. Hopefully the feeling will pass after I shower and do a bit of yard work.  I think I’m going to go watch Earth Mama this morning. I’ve heard good things about it. What is everyone up to today? I hope y'all are staying cool with this heat that won't end. 

It's Saturday night, yay! I feel bad for the penguin, but this gif popped up first for "ice," & then I watched it  3 times in a row. 😂 I'm sure it got even later, lol. Anyway, it's been hot as hell here, like still in the 80's at 10pm. We're hunkering down with AC & Timothy Oliphant in Justified tonight.   Good morning, y'all! It's Friday & time to air your grievances. Mine shall go to anxiety. I woke up feeling like a tiger is chasing me for no apparent reason. Maybe I dreamt about homework I didn't complete or something. I got some sad news yesterday; my great aunt Ruby passed away. She was my grandmother's last living sibling out of 13 & close to 100 years old & also my dog's namesake. RIP Aunt Ruby. A final fuck it for this heat--yesterday's heat index was 106°. No thank you.  Lol. So, I watched the UFO hearing & the main witness was like, "yes, I've seen UFO's but the evidence goes to another school & you don't know her." Which is to say, it wasn't very exciting or informative.  Happy Wednesday to you friends.   It's that time of year when the gardens are giving folks more than they know what to do with.  Yesterday I was gifted a mess of red currants.  Any ideas?  It's too hot to make jam and I have no other thoughts so they are resting in the freezer for now. Grown, gifted or bought, what summer bounty are you enjoying?  And what's going on today?

 I'm back from the cottage, which was pretty good overall; weather wasn't bad for the most part, and it's cold enough up there that I'd start the day with lined pants (sometimes wore them all day), sweaters and puffy vests. It was getting down to 59 F overnight, and would take a good part of the day to warm up. The sugar that I left up there was unusable, as was the coffee mate, so I got kind of used to drinking my coffee black, which is not a bad thing, but I did have two cups today, with a smidge of sugar. I was getting dressed yesterday morning, and dropped my clean bra in the kitty litter box, right on top of a fresh clump. Oh well. Some of you wanted a picture of the cottage, so here it is. It's 120 years old, and the siding is corrugated metal.  Good morning GT.  How was your weekend? That rain & flooding situation here was really intense.  We did not get the worst of it but still managed over 200mm (8 inches) in a day. Reportedly, it was 3 months worth in a day.  All of my people are ok but that's not the case everywhere and it's just unheard of around here.  I am ready for the unprecedented stuff to be over now TYVM. Anyway, we're right back to oppressive heat and humidity.  I've got a lot of catching up to do because I spent the weekend partying & socializing.  What are you up to?

  Good morning, GT! Happy Sunday! I woke up way too early and I'm feeling a bit restless so I'm about to take a drive to the beach. It's only 6am so I'm hoping there will be very few people there and I can enjoy some alone time with the ocean. On my way home I'm going to treat myself to something yummy for breakfast but I don't know what that will be yet.  How are y'all doing today? What's on your agenda?

  Good morning! It's almost Friday & it stopped raining here. I expect it will be gross this afternoon, but it’s actually pleasant right now. The ice cream & fruit supplies have been restocked regardless. Also, sorry this took a minute to post.  Good morning!  What's going on?  It is still a hellscape of hot and humid here. IDK if it's the heat or my need to downshift but something has my Finny behaving very  poorly lately.   I was up late last night cooking so that I didn't have to heat the house up too much today.  Tonight it will be pasta and a Caprese salad with balsamic reduction.  I would just like to skip the day and go straight to dinner please.   Good morning, GT!  I made the mistake of looking at the weather forecast and I hate what I saw. We’ll be in the 90s for the foreseeable future and I do not love it. Add that to the reminder that I’m on-call starting tomorrow and I’m feeling a little grouchy lol. Morno, GT--what are you up to this weekend? This morning, my mom and I are going to an Amish village about 90 min. awayto hit up their grocery store. (It sounds crazy but their grocery store is amazing and inexpensive. Plus, there's a cheese factory nearby where we can get some fresh cheese curds! And delicious baked goods!) Homey and are I doing more work on the house this weekend, then tomorrow we're walking through the gardens of a historic mansion in our neighborhood. The local community orchestra will be providing live music. It might be hot and humid but I bet it'll be lovely (as long as we bring cold water ;). How about y'all? Anything fun planned?

 Here we are at Monday again.  How was your weekend?   It's blessedly cooler here today and there's finally a breeze. I don't think we'll get much past 80 so maybe I can get some bread done today. I'm listening to The Retrievals podcast. It is engaging, infuriating and validating.  The indoctrination that perpetuates healthcare inequities starts early. I hope these things continue to be exposed and explored.  OK, that's heavy enough for a Monday morning.  What's going on this week?

  Good morning, GT! Happy Sunday.  It’s going to be 80 degrees today and the temps are supposed to keep climbing for the foreseeable future. We’ll be in the 90s by the end of the week and I’m dreading it. I don’t like being a gross, sweaty mess all summer.  On another note, I killed a giant spider in my bathroom this morning. It was huge compared to what I usually see. Ugh, why do these bugs and insects insist on coming into my house. Just stay outside and you can live.  Anyway, enough of my belly aching. I finally learned why there's a parking lot full of abandoned looking Teslas sitting in downtown Nashville. They're waiting on repairs & there's only one place that does it & it takes months to get parts. Hence, the graveyard of cars.   Morning, GT! You're officially on the downhill slope to the weekend. How's your Th. looking?  We are FINALLY getting a break in the heat, so my plan is to be outdoors all day. I should probably repaint some lawn furniture or weed the yard but my actual plan is to go for a walk, read in my hammock, and do some day drinking with Homey (there's a place downtown that does a fruity rum drink for two out of a frozen pineapple that we're going to try!). I almost never drink and especially not in the day but it feels luxurious to sit on a patio and drink out of a pineapple on a weekday. :) Plus, they make a killer pretzel. How about you? Is the weather being kinder to you today, too?

 Hiya people!  It looks like we may see a bit of sun today so I am off for my walk before it gets too gross out.   After that I'll be perusing the sale ads for tomorrow's trip to town.  I am certain that the world will end if I pay 50 cents more than I need to for something.   What's your shopping technique?  Are you a stock-piler or grab as you go kind of person?  ETA-  And what's going on today?

  Getting ready for my cottage trip; I tested out the new steripen that I bought to purify the lake water, and it seems to be operational. This means I no longer have to take up 20 litres of drinking water and lug it through the bush. Those 20 litres of water were also part of the reason that I'd have to row my stuff across in two trips, because it was so heavy. Doing some heavy duty laundry, because I dress for 4 seasons up there. It's cold enough first thing in the morning that I need lined jeans, sweaters, puffy vest and even a winter coat, if I'm not moving around a lot. Still have some grocery shopping to do, and in the interests of travelling light, I'm not taking any dairy (calcium supplements will have to do), and I'll be looking for lots of dried soup mixes and things.

Good morning! It's a brand new week with a holiday tomorrow. It's weird when it's the middle of the week & I'm not looking forward to the noise, but Mother Nature helped us out & rained on last night's parade. I slept great. :) Any plans for the 4th? We're popping by a barbecue, but weather depending, probably won't stay long. Anything fun on the menu? I have been in a cooking rut with the hot weather, but today is pleasant & I'm baking a loaf of blueberry banana bread, at least. The floor is yours. How's it going?

  Good morning, GT! Happy Sunday! It's hot as heck so I'm getting up early to run a few errands. I want to be back indoors before the real heat kicks in. I had to put the a/c on last night because I could not fall asleep because of the stuffiness in my bedroom. I woke up feeling icky and needing a shower.  Ok, enough of my complaining. Today is our city's big farmers market, so I'm going to get in there if I can avoid the rain. Tonight, there's live music and art at a park's Shakespearean garden so, again, if the rain allows, I might drag Homey to that.
